Saugus

Route 1 in Saugus features a long-standing orange dinosaur that many people think is the town symbol. Seriously there are plenty of attractions from the restaurants and shops on Route 1, but the town’s history goes far beyond a fiberglass dinosaur. The Saugus Iron Works is a National Historical Site. We had Brownie Troop expeditions to Breakheart Reservation that featured Native American lore and maple sugaring. And we annually drive to an area off the Fellsway (the Gilway) known for their spectacular holiday light displays. Although this is THE area that has been equated with the most over-the-top displays since we were kids, plenty of other neighborhoods are trying to stake their claim to the season of lights.
